On Sunday night we were lucky enough to experience another Playground.is event. If you haven’t heard us go on about these events before, the concept is simple – take one band, one audience and record a song together in an hour. We love music but neither of us have any musical talent. At Playground we sing our hearts out and we smile from ear to ear for weeks afterwards. People, it is so so so fun. The bands that play are incredible and everyone at these events are super duper friendly which makes it even more fun. This Sunday The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer played and they are soooo good!
We were thrilled when we were asked to volunteer and take some photos of the evening. We jumped at the chance to be help out with something that is so special. This time around the organizers kept the venue a secret and we were told to show up at a few certain spots close to transit at a specific time to catch a ride. We all loved riding on a big old yellow school bus called Gordon. Erin & Corinne from Filosophi and their team of volunteers transformed IronWorks into a cosy, intimate room that put everyone immediately at ease. They also did an amazing job at running the whole event smoothly. The lovely Cam & Nigel from Main Street Pilsner generously provided us all with delicious free beer! YAY!
Thank you to all the organizers, sponsors and everyone who went attended for an unforgettable night that really warmed our hearts. We cannot wait for the next Playground! If you’d like to go to the next event, be sure to sign up on their website.
It was fun to get interviewed by Jeff from the Human Statues (who played at our first Playground) for Playground’s B-RollWe were so excited for our lovely friends, Nelson & Erin, who were Playground virgins. I think it is safe to say that they had a blast too!Cory, from Side One, with his super helpful light so we all knew what section of the song we were on. The lovely Adam welcoming us all.
Gotcha, Kev! This is for all the awkward photos you’ve taken of us! : )
