When Shelly got in touch with us 3 weeks before her wedding to ask if we were available to photograph her and Stefano’s 2 day multicultural wedding at Burnaby Hall & the Capilano Golf & Country Club we have to admit that we were thrilled. We weren’t happy, of course, that their friend who was going to photograph their wedding had injured himself, but we were excited to work with such a fun and lovely couple. Adding to our excitement was the oppourtunity to experience our first Hindu wedding from one of our favourite places, Fiji. The bright sparkling colours, the fire, the marigold petals and the various rituals of Shelly & Stef’s wedding ceremony was inspiring to photograph.
The next night Shelly & Stef chartered a Vancouver Trolley Bus to pick them and their out of town guests up downtown and tour them over to Capilano Golf & Country Club. The mix of Shelly’s Fijian family and Stef’s Italian family at the reception was one of welcoming warmth. There were kisses on both cheeks Italian style and big hugs from Shelly’s adorable mom (who told me in her cute way that she really admired my teeth!).
Shelly & Stef, thank you so much for sharing not just one, but two amazing days with us. Congratulations!
